The great Hypocrisy.
Who decides what is constitutional in the US, the senate? In any case if you agree that common majority in the senate can decide whether some modus operandi is constitutional and you accept that a vote about some process will be held, then by allowing such vote, you accept the outcome., That means you go on with the process and accept the decision of the senate that it is constitutional.
If you choose the other way, that is to allow a minority of the senate to decide a priori the outcome if they know they can always block the 2/3 decision later, then it is clear for me that cannot be the constitutional way.
Every meeting by some administrative unit in the world (larger than the US and its constitution!) is built on proceeding by accepting the earlier votes outcome-if done by the a priori accepted rules of the meeting-because if not you declare your own administrative unit useless and fake. The acceptance of this structure of any meeting based on the democratic philosophy is the basis of any law building and administration organization in any democracy. In fact even non-democratic regimes will accept this modus operandi in structuring the society but the difference may be in the freedom of the voting system, but even in very non-democratic systems the appearance will be upheld! The reason is that the people almost instinctively know this is the only non-chaotic way of cooperating in a group where decisions have to be made with responsibility at least towards that group. It is considered bad governing to decide something and come back on it the next meeting this can happen occasionally in the light of new discoveries or information showing up only after the decision, but of course coming back on a decision is possible if it happens according to the rules set out at the creation of the committee. Let it be clear,voting something as the ‘group’ and then ignoring that during the same meeting is declaring the whole meeting fake and without value. In fact it is raising serious questions about the validity of the ‘group’ with respect to its assumed tasks and role in the society!
After that first vote in the senate the whole senate accepted to have a trial about the “guilt” question, then to use the non-constitutional argument voted away by the senate earlier, in a stupid explanation repeating almost all arguments of the House team and stating the defendant is guilty as hell but having voted not-guilty, is a summit of hypocrisy but in fact a complete treason of the ethics of democratic organization via meetings of designated experts. This does apply to most of the voters following that philosophy!
The level of fake ethics in the US senate is shocking and I hope that in the future the people in the governing institutions in the US will have a higher average level of intelligence and-more importantly-of honesty. And in case the senate is not the right structure to decide what is constitutional ( and thus acted as a bunch of ignorant amateurs) then they should have stopped the process and first get the decision from the correct institution ,some supreme constitutional court or something!
Some high official leader in a developed country stating publicly “ of course he is guilty but it is unconstitutional for me to vote that( while actually explaining it)” acting as if he has some lawyer’s knowledge about matters,should be send back to school to learn how in a democratic system administrative meetings are organized in a non-chaotic way according to meeting rules and that was also the principle in the construction of the constitution because if there would not have been a democratic agreement of how to compose a constitution according to the principle of democratic organizing meetings then there would not even be a constitution. Of course this strategy will not lead to re-uniting the country, on the contrary it will be a wedge pushing the parties further apart. An irrational weight is now associated to political doctrines and the normal focus on the common good and general benefit is obscured by the hunt for political power which should not even exist. Is there better evidence than the past treatment of the pandemic,a real catastrophe happening while the political divide made a symbol out of not wearing a mask making the demand to do that into a attack on the liberty granted by the constitution. Is the 500000 deaths soon to be reached a consequence of the constitution? Given that a swift reaction by simple measures of human comportment could have limited that amount to far less than 50% of what it is now-continents with equal and also much larger populations have established that-but a considerable part of the population made a political symbol out of treating the pandemic like a hoax or a simple flu and the effective simple precautions an attack on their constitutional liberty. The constitution is thus used as a guarantee of my individual “freedom” and defensive against the freedom of others thus neglecting the fact that “ it is society which has to be free”! Me first,my family first,my neighborhood first,my city first,my state or country first,America first,… and then it stops we do not add …our world first! Why not?As a kid of 8 years old I decide that it was not good to try to be first (standing during a monthly proclamation of school results in a long row facing the poor kid who was last, he had to wear donkey ears while I got a ‘gold’ crown of carton, I realized it was carton and indeed worthless)
The division in the US is deeper than even I thought, the reason for the division, on the other hand, is exactly as I thought (and it applies all over the world) a clash of rigid doctrines built on extreme materialistic ideas and deep ignorance about the complex situation of the world, feeding on the falsification of information used in manipulation of ‘we the people’ everywhere!
For what it is worth let me add I am fed up with stupidity and egoist nationalistic exploitation economy: feed the rich and manipulate the poor to keep doing the modern slavery work… just to ‘stay alive’, the great gift by politicians and the financial puppet masters behind the screens,… so they help God.
